The Recruiter Teacher's Guide by Sheila Sundar at Propeller Films

http://www.propellerfilms.com/recruiter/

Following the onset and intensification of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Propeller Films released the HBO documentary film, The Recruiter, which explores the external pressure and internal manipulation that shapes the relationship between military recruiters and the young men and women they seek to enlist. Our teachers' guide is designed to spark critical analysis of the access provided to recruiters on high school campuses, the militarization of youth, and the distortion of truth used by recruiters who push them to enlist. This curriculum is designed to be a resource to teachers throughout the country, particularly those whose students’ lives have been impacted by the ongoing war and the presence of military recruiters on their campuses. Our goal is to equip them with the educational resources and additional support to teach this curriculum in the years to come, so that as long as war and enlistment are daily realities for their students, this unit will remain a part of their core instruction.
