Step 6

During spring break of 2009, the task force invited teachers to gather and bring their favorite resources. These were made into a list of recommended materials the district could purchase.

WarningThe District paid the teachers for their time. Teachers met a month or so later to refine the list of materials.

At the beginning of summer break teachers gathered for a week (also being paid by the district for their time) and reviewed all the new materials, spending time writing lesson plans for each book schools would receive. This information is currently provided for teachers on the MPS website and on the task force’s website.
