Free Minds, Free People
Free Minds, Free People is a national gathering that brings together teachers, high school and college students, researchers, parents and community based activists/educators from across the country to build a movement to develop and promote education as a tool for liberation. We are already busy starting the work on FMFP 2017! For more information you can visit the Free Minds, Free People website or you can join the conference mailing list for periodic updates.
Some communities are developing regional Education for Liberation groups to stay connected between Free Minds, Free People events. In New York, the Education for Liberation Network helped catalyze the Social Justice Expo, a annual event in which students can showcase social justice projects they worked on during the year.. Started in 2009 as a collaboration between the network and several local public high schools, the network is now fully managed by local schools. For more information, check out the expo website.
